Prompt Volumes gives brands unprecedented visibility into what people are asking across Answer Engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity. It's become one of the most widely used features on the Profound platform, helping teams answer questions like: what are customers actually asking AI about my category? Which keywords matter most? How is demand shifting week over week?

Until now, those insights lived inside the Prompt Volumes dashboard. If you wanted to act on them, you had to export data, bring it into another tool, and manually build the workflow from there. The new Prompt Volumes node for Profound Agents removes that gap entirely. You can now pull prompt volume data directly into any Agent and use it to power content creation, competitive analysis, reporting, and monitoring workflows, all without leaving the platform.

What the Prompt Volumes node unlocks

Prompt Volumes node in Profound Agents

The node lets you query Profound's Prompt Volumes dataset programmatically as a step in any Agent. You provide keywords, set a date range, and apply filters for region and AI platform. The structured output flows downstream into whatever comes next in your Agent, whether that's an LLM node for analysis, a Slack node for alerting, or a CMS node for publishing.

Here's what you can configure:

Keywords - Enter one or more keywords to query volume data against. These can be supplied dynamically from upstream nodes for scaled execution across large keyword sets.

Metrics - Select the metrics you want to retrieve. Volume gives you estimated prompt volume data with period-over-period comparisons across AI platforms.

Date range - Choose a time window for the data. Options include preset ranges like the last 4 weeks, with data updated on a rolling basis (currently available through the most recent complete period).

Filters - Narrow results by region. The node supports all regions currently available in Prompt Volumes, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Brazil, Australia, Spain, Italy, South Korea, and more.

Advanced settings include date interval (weekly granularity) and matching type (exact or broad), giving you control over how precisely keywords are matched against the underlying dataset.

How to use it

The Prompt Volumes node sits in the Agents builder alongside other Profound Data nodes like Visibility Score, Citation Share, and Prompt Answers. It's designed to work as a data source at the start of a pipeline, feeding structured volume data into downstream analysis, content, or reporting steps.

Here are a few ways Profound customers can put it to work:

Demand-driven content creation

Build an Agent that queries Prompt Volumes for your target keywords, identifies which topics are trending up, and feeds those signals into an LLM node to generate content briefs or drafts. Instead of guessing what to write about next, your content pipeline starts with what people are actually asking AI.

Weekly trend monitoring

Set up a recurring Agent that pulls volume data for your tracked keywords every week, compares it to the prior period, and routes a summary to Slack. Get notified when a keyword spikes, when a competitor's category starts gaining volume, or when a topic you've been ignoring suddenly matters.

Regional keyword analysis

For global brands, use the region filter to pull volume data across multiple markets and compare how demand for the same topic varies by country. Feed the results into a reporting workflow or a Gamma presentation for leadership review.

Content prioritization at scale

Combine the Prompt Volumes node with a Visibility Score node to find the highest-leverage content opportunities: keywords with high volume where your brand's visibility is low. An Agent can identify these gaps automatically and generate a prioritized list of topics to tackle, complete with briefs.

Competitive intelligence pipelines

Chain the Prompt Volumes node with Citation Share data to understand not just how much volume a keyword carries, but who's winning that volume in AI-generated answers. Build Agents that surface keywords where competitors are cited more frequently despite lower or equal volume, signaling opportunities to capture share.

Why this matters

Prompt Volumes has always been about giving marketers the equivalent of search volume data for the AI era. But data in a dashboard is only as valuable as the actions it produces. By bringing Prompt Volumes into Agents, the data that tells you what people are asking now directly powers the workflows that help you show up in those conversations.

This is how the loop closes: real demand data from hundreds of millions of AI conversations flows into automated execution, producing content, reporting, and optimization that's grounded in what people actually care about.
