Documents are the lifeblood of marketing work. Every brief, every draft, every report, every campaign plan starts in one. They're where ideas get shaped, where teams collaborate, and where strategy becomes something real enough to ship.

Profound is where marketers that want to win in the AI era come to do their work. They run their visibility, sentiment, and accuracy analysis here. They build marketing Agents here. They surface opportunities, generate content, and act on insights here. So it only made sense that Documents lived here too.

But we weren't going to ship just another editor. There are plenty of those already. We wanted to build the version that matches how marketers actually work today, designed for the AI era, where Agents aren't tools you reach for but collaborators you work alongside. An experience that accelerates work instead of sitting passively while you do it.

This is the first version of Profound Documents, and it's live today. There's a lot more coming, but here's what shipped.

How Profound Docs works

Documents lives in the left nav alongside your existing Profound tools. You can create a new Document from scratch, or open the output of any Agent directly in one with a single click. The editing experience will feel familiar to anyone who has used Notion or Google Docs, but with a few important differences.

Ask Profound as a co-author. Profound's AI assistant works inside the Document, not next to it. Ask it to draft a section, request edits, leave comments on specific passages, or ask it to address comments your team has already left. It pulls from your Profound data and other connected context while it writes, so the content stays grounded in your visibility, citation, competitive intelligence, and brand guidelines.

Real-time collaboration. Multiple users can co-edit a Document with live cursors, comments, and @-mentions. Editorial, SEO, content, and client stakeholders all work in the same place without needing access to a separate tool.

Slash commands. Inline commands for formatting, structure, and AI actions.

Native Docs nodes in Agents. Documents are first-class objects in your Agent workflows. ‘Create Doc’ generates a new Document from a prompt. ‘Update Doc’ modifies an existing one. ‘Read Doc’ turns any Document into text that downstream nodes can use as input. An edited Document can feed directly into another Agent for fact-checking, formatting, or publishing.

Publishing without the handoff. Pair Docs with other integrations in Agents like Webflow and the same Document you edited becomes the post that ships to your CMS.

How Profound customers are using Documents

From brief to final draft in a single workflow

Run an Agent to generate a content brief, open the output in a Document, refine it with your editor's voice, and feed the finished brief into a downstream Agent to draft the full article. The context never gets lost between steps.

AI-generated content review

When an Agent drafts an article, blog post, or report, the output opens in a Document where your team can review it line by line. Use Ask Profound inside the Document to request tone adjustments, add data, or rewrite sections without breaking the editing flow.

Collaborative AEO reporting

Background Agents can generate brand performance reports directly into a Document. From there, your team can annotate findings, assign follow-ups via comments, and share the report with cross-functional stakeholders who don't live in Profound day-to-day.

Doc to CMS in one workflow

Chain a Read Doc node into an integration like Contentful, and the Document you just edited gets pushed straight to your CMS. The same surface where your team collaborates becomes the surface where content ships.
