YouTube is one of the most-cited sources in AI answers. But unlike most domains, a raw YouTube URL tells you almost nothing about the creator, channel, or video behind the citation.

With YouTube Citation Breakdown in Answer Engine Insights, you're now able to see YouTube URLs with structured details: Channels, Videos, and Video Categories.

What you can see now

Channels: ranks every channel cited in the period by their share of all YouTube citations. Expand any channel view to see the specific videos of theirs that are being cited and make up their citation share.

Videos: lists the individual videos getting cited, each with its length, channel, and category.

Video Categories: shows the kind of content earning citations, like Education or Tech, so you can see what format AI engines are reaching for when they answer questions about your category.

How Profound customers can use it

Find the creators that influence AI's opinion of your brand

When a channel keeps showing up in YouTube citations tied to your brand or category, that's a creator worth knowing. The Channels tab surfaces them by name and ranks them by citation share, so you can see who's shaping the answer and reach out to sponsor them, pitch them, or partner with them.

See which content formats to prioritize

Use the Videos and Video Categories tabs show you which categories AI cites the most for the topics you care about. Use this to shape your own video content strategy: brief creators, produce the formats that are winning, and stop guessing at what AI will reference.

Why this matters

YouTube citations were always in your data. Now they're legible. Instead of scanning through anonymous links, you can see which creators, which videos, and which content categories are feeding AI's answers about your brand, and act on the ones that matter.
